This
Mother’s Day, Rebecca Gunn will be spending time with her mum Sue Harborne as
normal. But, instead of enjoying a Sunday roast in a country pub, the pair will
be working together in the marketing suite at Kier Living’s Meadow Croft development, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
Development
manager Rebecca has worked at the Houghton Conquest site for the past two
years, helping customers find the home of their dreams and supporting them
throughout the buying process.
Rebecca
explained that the success of the development meant she needed a colleague to
support her at the weekends. “I was finding myself rushed off my feet,” said
the 45-year-old. “My mum said she could help; she’d worked in the new homes
industry for more than 20 years before she retired in November.
“She worked
for me before when I ran a cleaning business, so I knew we’d get on. Lots of
people tell me they could never work with their mum but I love it. We’re the best
friends and I couldn’t ask for a better colleague.”
The
mum-of-two added: “The bonus is that she brings me lunch in every Saturday and
Sunday!”
For Sue,
working alongside her daughter at Meadow Croft brings with it lots of benefits.
She
explained: “I decided to retire when I was 65 because I felt I should slow down
a bit, but I was fed up of it by January! Being at Meadow Croft two days a week
is perfect for me as it keeps my brain going and gives me time to do my
gardening during the week. Working in this industry is something I’ve always
enjoyed doing, especially meeting new people and helping them realise their
dreams of buying a new home.”
The
marketing suite is open from 10am daily, call 01234 430580.
