The site has been unused since the hospital was decommissioned in 2010 when services were transferred to the new Peterborough City Hospital. Outline Planning Permission was granted in October 2014 for development of the site including up to 350 residential units.
Kier Living Eastern sales and marketing director David Thomas said: “We will be working closely with Peterborough City Council over the next 12 months to ensure the best development of a prime site in this wonderful city.
“Building homes at the former hospital site will provide comprehensive regeneration of the area to the west of the city centre. This is an exciting project for us and we will be creating a high quality residential neighbourhood and much needed new housing for Peterborough.”
Kier Living Eastern has completed on the sale of the residential parcels Zone D and E, and exchanged on Zone B. The total sale to Kier Living Eastern from Land Improvements Group comprises approximately 5.6 ha, which could be used for up to 287 new dwellings.
Zone D is located between the City Care Centre and Thorpe Road Surgery. Zone E is located to the west of Alderman’s Drive. Zone B is located to the north of Sessions House. Zone D is approximately 0.94 ha and is expected to deliver up to 45 homes, comprising a mix of apartments and houses. Kier Living Eastern is hoping to submit a planning application for this zone in Spring 2016 and for the further two zones in 2017.
Kier Living Eastern is already building and selling quality homes in Peterborough city centre at Connect21, a popular development of apartments and houses at Potters Way.
Work by Kier Construction has started on the new West Town Primary Academy in Zone A of the former hospital site and the remaining two zones have been purchased by property developer Weston Homes.
