The thriving market town of Newcastle under Lyme is a shoppers delight to visit on market days and hosts a variety markets six days a week. This historic market has been taking place for over 800 years. The recently developed 'Castle Walk' with its traditional cobbled street and Iron Market are home to a variety of high street stores and traditional cafes where you can take a rest from shopping and enjoy a pot of tea and a scone.
The Borough Museum & Art Gallery depicts the civic history of the Borough of Newcastle under Lyme and an authentic, life-size Victorian street-scene whilst the art gallery hosts work by local and national artists as well as 'travelling' exhibitions. Newcastle under Lyme is also home to the New Vic Theatre, the first in the UK to offer theatre in-the-round, providing a full programme of entertainment including plays, concerts and art exhibitions throughout the year. There is also a multi-screen cinema in the town, along with a mix of bars and restaurants.
